  The History of GayerHair

GayerHair started as far back in “the Old World” by Max Gayer's great-grandfather and his grandfather brought it to Philadelphia in 1910. Quaker Hair Goods Company was run by Max Gayer (Max's grandfather) and manufactured wigs and hairpieces on 8 buildings on the 1900 block of South Street. So Max is a fourth-generation. Izzy Gayer, Max's father began House of Gayer in 1953 and Max began GayerHair at the Callowhill Office Center in 1995.

The websites—www.toupeetape.com, www.gayerhair.com, www.maxfashiontape.com, www.maxscratch.com, and soon to be www.maxwallet.com—are all entities of The Max Gayer Group. GayerHair is known for the art of creating a natural hairline; one that can be combed straight back and defies detection.

    Max Gayer, CEO

Max learned to implant hair at age 4, sitting around the family’s living room and asking to join in with his mother and six aunts. He graduated Cal-Mir Barber School after high school and prior to his successful Bachelor s in Economics at Widener University which at the time was Pennsylvania Military College. Max earned his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army. After promotion to 1st Lt. Max was honorably discharged after being awarded the Army Commendation Medal for service in Korea. He returned to take the helm at Quaker Hair Goods Company in Philadelphia and subsequently began GayerHair after consolidating it with the family business House of Gayer. Max has earned licensing as a Master Barber's License and as an avocation a US Coast Guard 100-ton Passenger Carrying Vessel for Inner Waterways.

    Dawn Haubert, Manager

Dawn's only position has been with GayerHair. When Dawn hit the job market she began as GayerHair's receptionist. Having acheived a cosmetology liscense a few years ago, Dawn was appointed Hair Technician and is now studying for her Master Barber's liscense.

Maria Castrovillo, Design Technician and Internet Specialist

Dawn hired Maria a few years ago as GayerHair's book continued to grow. Maria's experience in cosmetology and expertise in coloring has made her invaluable to the individuals that are associated with GayerHair.
