GayerHair started as far back in “the Old World” by Max Gayer's great-grandfather and his grandfather brought it to Philadelphia in 1910. Quaker Hair Goods Company was run by Max Gayer (Max's grandfather) and manufactured wigs and hairpieces on 8 buildings on the 1900 block of South Street. So Max is a fourth-generation. Izzy Gayer, Max's father began House of Gayer in 1953 and Max began GayerHair at the Callowhill Office Center in 1995.
The websites—www.toupeetape.com, www.gayerhair.com, www.maxfashiontape.com, www.maxscratch.com, and soon to be www.maxwallet.com—are all entities of The Max Gayer Group. GayerHair is known for the art of creating a natural hairline; one that can be combed straight back and defies detection.
